The William B. and Anna Weaver Orphan Home Staff and Children.

William and Anna Weaver are in the back row at left. Rev. William Weaver is from Hertford County, NC.

The Weaver Orphan Home, was on a 25-acre farm on West Queen Street, in Hampton, Va.
The Weavers opened their children's home in 1904 and focused on creating a family environment in the home, with added focus on education. The home also focused on a sense of community, balancing playtime with boys working on the farm and girls doing cooking and housework.

The orphanage was supported by local and Northern philanthropists and community organizations, and the Weavers maintained an extensive fundraising network.

Between 1904 and 1965, the Weaver family cared for over 800 children, with the family continuing the orphan home’s work after the deaths of William and Anna Weaver.

The Weavers had four children: Orra D. Weaver Spivey 1885–1984;
Raymond Bolden Weaver
1898–1931;
Ruth Weaver Fagan 1898–1978; Julia H. Weaver Nelson 1900–1973.

Mrs. Anna Weaver was born Jul 1859 in Cumberland County, Virginia, and she died 16 Sep 1943 (aged 84) in Hampton City, Virginia.

Mr. William D. Weaver was born 7 Apr 1852 in Winton, Hertford County, North Carolina, and he died 17 Jan 1929 (aged 76) in Hampton City, Virginia.
