Claudia Morgan
Raleigh School Patrolwoman Claudia Morgan is seen carrying a child across the muddy chasm created by construction of the Oberlin Road bridge spanning Wade Avenue, 24 October 1958.

Claudia Morgan was a life-long resident of Raleigh, having attended Washington Elementary and Shaw University. Morgan started working as a school patrol officer with the Raleigh Police Department in 1955 and continued in this role until 1960. She later retired from the NC Department of Vocational Rehabilitation in 1992 after several decades of service.
At the time of her passing, she was remembered for her historical knowledge concerning Oberlin Village and the service she gave to her community and her church, Wilson Temple United Methodist. She died in October of 2003 having lived in Oberlin Village for the majority of her life.
Claudia's sister still lives in the Morgan family home and Claudia's former home on Oberlin Road remains with descendants. Claudia Morgan was the great, great granddaughter of Wilson Morgan, one of the earliest settlers of Oberlin Village.
He was a Wake County representative in the General Assembly of 1870 and a founder of the Colored Educational Association of North Carolina.
Claudia inherited her house at 1015 Oberlin from her grandfather, James S. Morgan.
