Brunswick County, North Carolina.

"For day one, we celebrate some of our first accredited Black high schools, Brunswick County Training School (BCT) shown in photograph, Union High School and Lincoln High School. BCT was the first accredited school.

During the 1918-1919 school year Brunswick County Board approved $500.00 for construction of Teacher Training School for “colored pupils”. Later this school was denominated as the one colored high school for the county and designated as Brunswick County Colored High School.

In 1929, the renamed and rebuilt Brunswick County Training School received accreditation.
In 1933, the extreme Alvin C. Caviness became principal.

In 1935, the vesture chorus of twenty members of this school appeared in the (white only) Southport High School auditorium and sang Christmas carols. In 1952, Howard Davis and Buster Davis won divisions of the Bricklaying Contest at NC A&T.

BCT produced many dignitaries from all walks of life, from president of a college (William McMillian / Rust College), to a Tuskegee Airmen (Wilbur C. Gore). The school had a marching band and girls and boys basketball team.

In 1965, BCT was renamed Brunswick County High School.

In 1969, with the integration of schools, the Black high school (BCT, Union and Lincoln) became middle schools while the white high schools became the integrated high schools.
