Bennett College For Women in Greensboro, North Carolina
Associated with its home economics program and led by trailblazing educator Dr. Flemmie Pansy Kittrell, operated a nursery school/laboratory program for young children during the 1930s.

Director and Leader: Dr. Flemmie Kittrell served as the Dean of Students and Director of Home Economics at Bennett College For Women from 1928 to 1940. Her vision's purpose was a program focused on child development and early childhood nutrition, serving as a practical training ground and laboratory for college students.

Dr. Kittrell used her foundational work at Bennett College to later establish a similar renowned nursery laboratory school at Howard University in the 1940s, which helped shape national programs like Head Start.
