This is the original Bill of Sale dated June 9, 1855 that shows George Dixon sold an enslaved family to Benjamin Franklin Havens of Washington, NC for the sum of $1,000.
The family consisted of 22 year old Mary Ann and her two children, John aged four and daughter Virginia two years old.
Benjamin Havens was a well known merchant in Washington (NC)
