Did you know that Gladys Knight lives in NC?

Gladys Knight married William McDowell in 2001.
They have seventeen grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren between them.

Knight and McDowell reside in Canton, Haywood County, North Carolina, where they own a community center that was formerly a school attended by McDowell.

In 2017, Knight helped raise $400,000 for the Children's Learning Centers of Fairfield County. The event was held at the Palace Theatre and was co-hosted by Carol Anne Riddell and Alan Kalter.

The Haywood County NC Health and Human Services writes this:

"The couple, who reside in North Carolina and created a community center and nonprofit called the RHS Community Foundation in Canton, wish to set an example for others and dispel vaccination fears within the community.

McDowell, who grew up in the region, shared that in the Black community, medical trust is – understandably – sometimes hard to come by: 'You need someone to say you’ve been there…we know it’s important to use our names for service.'
When asked why she chose to get the vaccine, Knight said, 'Because I’m concerned about everybody. I’m a people person. I love people, and if not for people I wouldn’t be doing what I’m doing.' She also encourages the community to be selfless and wear a mask to protect others."
