They maintain supervision over the sales center which is operated each Saturday morning. During the first year of it's operation, the market enabled Negro farm people of Wilson County to sell $2,362.83 worth of surplus products.

Right newspaper article: COLORED NEWS-Curb Market To Celebrate First Year. The Negro Farm and Home Curb Market will celebrate it's first year anniversary, Saturday, June 20, 1942, at the Curb Market building located at 622 East Nash Street, Wilson, N.C. hours 7:30a.m. until 1:00 p.m.
By way of appreciation to the market regularly, a yellow ticket will be given to them to write their names on and placed in their box.

To all the others who may come in and buy on that day a cherry ticket will be given and they are to write their names on this ticket and placed in another box. At one o'clock the tickets are to be well shaken in the boxes and the first yellow ticket drawn from the box will be given to the free basket of groceries.

The cherry ticket drawn will be given a dozen eggs or a pound of butter. Come to the Curb Market Saturday, June 20, at 7:30 and bring your neighbor with you.
