In 1941, Camp Whispering Pines in Wake County, North Carolina, served as a prominent woodland center for youth and community programs. Managed under agencies like the 4-H club and Extension, the camp hosted key events such as the Wildlife Conference and training institutes for Negro Girl Scout Leaders in May and July of that year.
